ACER decides on the electricity TSOs’ proposal for Capacity Calculation Regions
On 18 November, ACER issued a Decision on the Capacity Calculation Regions (CCR) Proposal in accordance with Article 9(11) of EU Regulation 2015/1222 on Capacity Allocation and Congestion Management (CACM) and the Agency’s Founding Regulation (Article 8(1) of Regulation (EC) No 713/2009).
The Decision will divide Europe into 10 CCRs, with immediate effect. In its Decision, ACER approves the TSOs’ CCR Proposal subject to the necessary merger of the Central West European (CWE) and the Central European Region (CEE) regions into one single CCR - CORE. ACER also approves the TSOs’ Proposal to establish a bidding zone border between Germany and Austria.
Decisions made as a result of CACM will become part of Norwegian law when CACM is introduced in Norway. Then, Norway will become part of two of the regions: Nordic and Hansa. Find out more here.
