Sign up for the fourth network meeting for power market modelling
NVE, Statnett and Statkraft are inviting for the fourth networking meeting for power market modelling, November 18th, with the overarching topic Modelling flexibility: Navigating the trade-offs between simplification and detail. The meeting is of high relevance for those working on modeling the Nordic power market, with invited speakers that are experts in their field. We welcome all professionals across the industry to sign up!
The deadline for signing up is Thursday 7th of November. Click here to sign up!*
The professional network for power market modelling was established spring 2023, with the aim of improving collaboration and to share knowledge about power market modelling across the industry. Read more about the network here.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
When: November 18th, 2024 at 10 AM to 16 PM
Where: Deichman Bjørvika, Oslo
The attendance is free of charge
PROGRAM
Overarching topic: Modelling flexibility: Navigating the trade-offs between simplification and detail. The following sub-topics will be addressed in the meeting:
- Defining the system boundaries – what to model and where to use exogenous input?
- Sector coupling – the power market is increasingly affected of what's going on in other markets (e.g. heating, hydrogen). Is a multi-market model necessary?
- Reserve markets - how to consider the effects of a growing share of volumes in the balancing markets?
- Geography- where to set the boundaries in a more interconnected market?
- Detailed modelling – where does it pay off? This part of the program sheds light on where it can be important to pay attention to detail (e.g. time resolution, individual water values, representation of technologies, …)
- Modelling flexibility - how flexible are they really? How are different market participants (e.g. data centers, nuclear power, electric boilers, …) adapting to the changing market dynamics? What are the possibilities and limitations of their ability to be flexible? Also, how does PPA and other contracts affect the possibility to be flexible?
The final program will be shared later.
PARTICIPATION
We encourage all participants to take part physically at the meeting venue, but we will also facilitate digital participation for members who do not have the opportunity to travel to Oslo.
We hope to see you at the network meeting!
